What a shame the movie doesn't mention how, according to his aunt, he never bullied other children and even defended the weak. How he expressed his regret about having killed that dog in a fight, saying that the dog was innocent and didn't ask for any of that. How he got along well with down syndrome kids. And how he raised hundreds of thousands of pounds on his artwork and donated it to charity helping sick children. He's been a brutal and violent, very disturbed individual and criminal for decades, but just as it is said in the movie, he's not BAD bad. He was born broken, different than others that's unacceptable and hurtful in the eyes of the surrounding world, that no one could ever do anything to change nor erase and I'm convinced he had been hurt by his own inner self, that led him to become a reject and a misfit. I don't hate him, because aside from his bad side he could hardly, if at all, control, there is a sizeable good side to him that he chooses consciously to be let out and to improve the lives of those who deserve it the most.
